How do you make first contact? Perception in everything

As I walked into my spirituality and work class, I noticed a small exotic looking girl with a mean posture and bitchy eyebrows as soon as I walked in. I thought, I got to talk to this girl. I took a seat right in front of her, blocking her view and paying her no attention. Half way through the class we had to pair up for a reflective exercise so I whipped around and made her my partner. She was rocking a blazer (come to find out that is pretty standard) and talked a mean business game. As we went through with the exercise I came to find out a lot about this girls past work experience and was to say the least.. very impressed. As I spoke about getting my life insurance license through Primerica, studying real estate investing and having a lot of sales of experience I sat to watch for an impressed reaction.
It never came.
Instead I was matched on every front. (and occasionally surpassed) This was something that was foreign to me in regular conversation with girls. It was at this point I knew, I was into this one. You can really tell when you meet someone who is very similar to yourself. It felt slightly intimidating and sort of conflicting. It initially seems weird and you ask yourself “Is this person really like this?? How can they be... I am I like this!!”
The weeks went on and we learned more and more about each other through our spirituality class and its practices in mindful thinking and reflective conversation. (touch more on that later)

To Our Readers,

Tara and I met in September of 2009 in a classroom setting at university. The course was spirituality and the workplace, where students focused on ethical issues, morals and personal development in both their professional and personal lives. After getting off to what some may consider a rocky start we became friends and worked together for classroom exercises and projects. It was clear that our passions, drives and ambitions were on the same path, and it wasn't a surprise to those around us when we wanted to take our relationship to the next level. In future blogs Tara and I will explain how our relationship evolved that first year from our first encounter to starting a business together.

We want to share our experiences with you, helping you to find that perfect someone, get the most out of your relationship, achieving your personal, financial and professional dreams making them your reality.

Cheers to Success,
Dylan and Tara
